Post by CHRISCHA » 25 Jan 2004, 21:43

Hello, I have started this thread with the intention that military shows, collectors fairs, etc. can be announced with the benefit of informing others.

So, please add details of events. (All counties included).

Chris.

The Ohio Valley Military Society's annual "Show of Shows" will be held in Louisville, Ky, February 19-22 2004 at the Exposition Hall in the Kentucky State Fairgrounds. IMHO the SOS is the best all militaria show in the US bar none. At the same time, in the same building, a HUGE gun show called the National Gun Day will be held on Feb 21-22.

Both are top notch and shouldn't be missed.

There is a huge combination show in the Stuttgart Messe (Germany) the first weekend in April. One admission price gets you into a place that has at least 8 or 9 different shows going on at once (I never counted them all - I never went into the toy show, or model railroad show, etc.).

There is a large militaria show where you can find everything from goodies to fakes, also firearms, there is also a book and paper show where you can find good WW2 items, and a general "flea market" style antique show where some good finds show up. (There is also a "high-brow" antique section, for those who like to spend thousands of $$/Euro on antique furniture and the like.)

Here in British Columbia, Canada we are looking forward to the 32nd Annual 2 Day Historical Arms Collectors Society of B.C. show coming up on April 24 & 25th. This is the largest annual gathering of ‘gun & war nuts’ in this neck of the woods, and there is usually quite a good selection of WWII items put up for sale. Lat year there was a fascinating display of rare Third Reich items which highlighted original signed document groupings from ‘upper echelon’ Nazis including Hitler, Goerring, Himmler, etc. The show is held at Coquitlam Sport Complex Arena, 633 Poirier Street, Coquitlam, B.C. 9am – 5pm Saturday, 9am – 3 pm Sunday

As a follow up to my last post...

Another great show this year. Smaller than in previous years - but I landed my best score this time around. An original grouping from the famous First Polish Armored Division of General Stanislaw Maczek. Badges, documents, 3 photo albums, personal mementoes - and a nice 100% original tunic in excellent condition. All belonging to the same 2nd Lieutenant of the 1st Motorized Artillery Regiment. Yep - you bet I'm happy!

I saw that tunic there. I also found some great deals, more so on the last day.
