I'm an new collector and am considering purchasing this WW1 iron cross 1st class. Any idea whether it's real or fake? Many thanks.

Thanks Boldyman. What worried me was the thin clasp. Do you know if the maker's mark "KG" is a recognized one? Thanks again.

The Maker Mark is KO and means Königliches Münzamt Orden.

I'm not sure sure that this is a good piece. I suggest that you post the same question on the imperial medals forum of the Wehrmacht Awards website. Here is the address. http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/ ... ay.php?f=9 There are plenty of experts on the subject on the site.

Good idea! Why posting in the Axis Forum anymore and wasting time?
Let us all go to the wehrmacht-awards-forum.
Coz there are the experts.

Geeeez boldyman!

Take it easy. I was just suggesting that he might get more than one opinion there. No offense intended to you.

Thanks Boldyman. Do you have any general suggestions on how to spot fake EK1s? Thanks in advance.
