Has anyone ever come across a surgeons dagger, serated edge on one side of the blade, black handle large black sheath rounded at the bottom. Eagle and swastika markings etc.?

RED CROSS ENLISTED MANS DAGGER(HEWER) A NEAR MINT-MINT CAN STILL BE HAD IF YOU DO A BET OF LEG WORK. PRICED FROM A BIT OVER 500$ U.S. ON UP. FOR THE BETTER ONES. TWO TYPES: ONES WITH OUT LOWER SCABBARD SCREWS AND THOSE WITH LOWER SCABBARD SCREWS. I LIKE THE HEWERS MANY COLLECTORS DONT.

Bret,

It is a very heavy item and not the most attractive of articles. The man in question is after £450. It is in mint condition except for a small chip on the handle. Thanks for the feedback, it is most helpful.

Cheers,

Billy :)

MY EXCHANGE IS RUSTY AT BEST DOES THAT MAKE IT ABOUT 700$ U.S.? IF SO THAT WOULD BE A BIT HIGH FOR ME WITH THE CHIPPED GRIP. IF YOUR LOOKING A FEW DEALERS IN THE U.S. HAVE THEM IN NEAR MINT- MINT COND. FOR ABOUT THE SAME PRICE.

NOT TO PLAY FAVORITES BUT CHIP GAMBINOS GRADING TO ME HAS ALWAYS BEEN DEAD ON. I BOUGHT MY E.M. A FEW YEARS AGO WHICH WAS AN UPGRADE FOR ME AND PAID 700$ ITS STONE MINT. ABOUT TWICE WHAT MY EXC+ COST ME. SO YOU CAN SEE THAT PRICES DO CREEP UP OVER TIME.

Markins are almost hidden behind a cross piece on the handle but I believe they read GESCHUTZT.

Sorry for the wait.

Billy,

The Red Cross enlisted hewer is indeed heavy since it was made to be used in the field. It is not just an ornamental piece. Likewise the TENO enlisted hewer is massive since it too was made for use and not just for show.

There is no doubt it is a heavy piece of kit.
