Georg Vasel?

Does anyone know what happened to Georg Vasel? His book, My russian jailers in China
has been mentioned a number of times on this forum, but the only mention of him
i found was in Andrew Forbes book, who thinks he returned to nazi Germany. But
if so surely he would have left a record in the nazi archivs during that time and
WW2? His book was published in London 1937. I wonder if he changed his name
to avoid stalins agents?
