Anyone got any information about or can give their personal knowledge about this brilliant miltary campaign conducted by Chaing Kai Shek to eridcate rival warlords who were controlling China?

Any informaiton about this campaign would be helpful to me.

Thanks for the info.

I got the dvd 'Sino Japanese war' and it talked a bit about the Northern Expedition - Chiang Kai Shek and only 100,000 men trained by Soviet advisors advanced through China from the Whampoa military academy in Canton defeating most of the major warlords. The Nationalists were far better trained, equipped and the Soviet advisors taught them flanking mounts etc which I found interesting
Although despite this military campaign was a success, this war was unfortently full of savagery with advancing Nationalists soldiers slaying surrendering warlord men + collobrators, not to mention the fact that Chaing turned against his Communsit allies and ordered Shanghai to be 'Cleansed' from Communist activity.

The Japanese ironically helped Chiang's northern expedition by assassinating Zhang Zuo-Lin, making Zhang Xue-Liang(Zhang Zuo-Lin's son) have a burning hatred against the Japanese and unite with KMT.
