Official name of the Nationalist Army?

Post by Lawrence » 11 Jan 2008 06:10

What exactly was the Kuomintang Party's army known as? Wikipedia gives the title 'National Revolutionary Army' but I've never seen this anywhere else? Most times it is simply referred to as the Nationalist Army, but that might be a simplification.

Any information?

I think in China the KMT army is most commonly referred to as Guo Jun, or 'National Army'

Its formal name between 1925 and 1928 was 国民革命军, "Guo Min Ge Ming Jun", National Revolution Army.

In 1928, after China was (nominal) unified by the army, and the Nationalist government was formed, it was named "中华民国国军", "Zhong Hua Min Guo Guo Jun", National Army of Republic of China, or "Guo Jun" (National Army) in short
