Just came across this link regarding the exploits of the legendary one-legged Chinese Admiral Andrew Chan Chak:

Apparently Chan Chak was responsible for setting up the smuggling of much needed gasoline from Hong Kong to Canton during 1939-41 despite the official embargo.
