Is this figure correct?
In order to commemorate the heroes, China built the Monument to the Aviator Martyrs in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in August 1995 in the eastern city of Nanjing. Names of more than 3,000 martyrs, including 870 Chinese, 2,186 Americans and 236 former Soviet Union soldiers, are inscribed on the monument in Chinese, English and Russian.

Good morning Peter H,

As new material becomes available, the numbers change.

The links excerp lists 2,186 on the Nanjiang monument built/dedicated August, 1995.

On 3 June 1996, in Yunnan, a hunter discovered Aircraft Numner 53 that operated under the colors of CNAC. Acft 53 crashed 11 Mar 43. The 3 aviators, 1 American and 2 Chinese, were killed.

The American, James R. Fox, piloting CNAC acft 53, adds 1 more number to the American pilots lost.

Warm regards,

Bob

Thanks Bob.

As previously discussed elsewhere a lot of these were going over the Hump losses

Hi,

Just a question.

Are the pilots fighting in the beginning of the 30's part of this list ? (Just an example : Robert Short shot down and killed the 22nd february 1932). Or the list starts at 1937 ?

So long
