Oirob, do you have any information about this picture? I'm guessing it's from the 1920s based on the uniforms and general appearance of the photo, but can't deduce more than that.

Very interesting! I hope someone will be kind enough to translate the text in the second photo to hopefully give us some context.

I can recognize part of those Japanese words in the left had side. <水中障害物破壞>.
It is very interesting to read those Japanese. In Chinese <水中障害物破壞> means going to destroy the obstacles in the water. But as you can see from the photo, it means "Crossing" the river.

Thank you for the translation L1E1.
There is something else I'd like to have translated, if it's possible. It's an inscription on a, what I think is some kind of, "Hanyang rifle".

Is there any hint about the production date/place or (army unit) use?

Thanks in advance

Thank you, L1E1. I'm thinking "conquering" or "surmounting" is probably what would work best as a translation in English. A pity that it didn't provide any geographic or military context though.

貴州興仁縣,人民武裝.
100% sure is Chinese.

貴州省 (Kweichow Province or Guizhou Province), 興仁縣 (Hanyang County)
人民 (people) 武裝 (Armored)

It is the name of the troop.
貴州省興仁縣人民武裝隊 that is the Guard Force of Hanyang County, Kweichow Province, The Republic of China
But the star at the centre suggested it was from "Red China".
