Can anyone help identify this officer, c. 1944.

This is a family member, we think. The woman is an aunt. These photos are from the family albums. The officer to me appears to be a KMT major general, but we have lost much information about this side of the family. This photo probably dates c. 1944.

We're not experts on the detailed political and military history of this time period, only general information about historical events and persons, so any insight is appreciated.
