Mixed Brigades of 1913

Post by jerryasher » 23 Sep 2018 15:27

In passing I came across a statement that during 1913 ten new Mixed Brigades were created, apparently there were some before. I am guessing that they were lighter than the Division structure used after the Sino -Japanese War of 1894-1895. Yuan Shi Kai seems to be the originator of both structures. The ying, 500 men, seems to be the standard. At one point, the 1918, 16th Mixed Brigade came in 9,553 men but I have no information of its equipment (except they would have only very light artillery). The 15th may have been stationed in Hebei or Shandong. Many thanks in advance.
