What if Germany and Japan attacked Russia simultaneously on both sides?
Why did they not agree to attack simultaneously?

This was brought up a few weeks ago, :D . I argued that Japan would have no business,or any gain in attacking the USSR. The Japanese had already gotten their asses kicked and Siberia is no place to fight a conventional war.

However they could have attacked Vladivostock, but they still would have been beaten back.Besides, the Japanese had their eyes set to Southern Asia, not Siberia. 8)

In 1939, Zhukov near Khalkhin-gol made sure there would be no "what if" for Japan. There were still licking the wounds in 1941 and weren't eager to attack SU even when the situation was most favorable for them in autumn-winter of 1941 thus giving SU the chance to transfer fresh siberian divisions to fight off Germans near Moscow.
