Nice to see a informative & reasonably debated three resurrected.

I've found Hughes & Costellos 'The Battle of the Atlantic' a good primer for understanding this theatre of WWII. The numbers provided show clearly the relationship between cargo ships & submarines built/deployed and sunk in who was winning the campaigns. There are also a nice set of biannual maps that show where the cargo ships and submarines were sunk, illustrating the areas the several campaigns were fought in.

I'd seen the numbers for cargo ships built/sunk elsewhere earlier, but H & C again show how the Battle of the Atlantic was won in the latter half of 1942, well before the dates ascribed in the pop histories.

John Ellis in 'Brute Forces also has a couple chapters on the BoA that help understand what actually happened.
