Hi South,

Yes, I have posted that NATO outlived the USSR. This is a self evident fact, notwithstanding whatever the French may have done.

I remember "Iran-Contra". I was actually in Nicaragua during some of it. What is your point? It looked pretty unaccountable until exposed.

I also do not know what the building of Irbil airfield has to do with it. Almost anybody can build and/or arrange to finance an airfield. It is not an area of specialist expertise that necessitates Israeli involvement.

US-Israel relations may be largely accountable, but the fact remains that Israel and the USA have no formal alliance of the NATO variety. Israel is less a US ally, in the strict sense, than a US fellow traveller. To use a WWII analogy, it is roughly to the US what Finland was to Germany.

You post, "Much has been going on and much is not available to the public". If so, it doesn't sound very accountable, does it!

Cheers,

Sid.

Why should this be important ? SK also had not such alliance. There is no need for a formal alliance to help a country, and a formal alliance does not mean automatical help .

As I had already said twice, treaties are superfluous for an efficient foreign policy : treaties are words from lawyers and politicians,= people who are paid to talk, not to act : a civil/religious wedding is not needed for a happy marriage ;it is the same for relations between states .
Another post of utter nonsense...

It's been over 24 hours since you last said it, so why not say it a fourth time? Go on, you know you want to....

PS. Do you think that repetition makes yout words more credible or believable or relevant?
PPS. A 'wedding' is essential to 'marriage': happy or otherwise. Without a wedding, there is no marriage.
US had no alliances with European powers in the 19th Century, and still it had an efficient foreign policy .

Hi ljadw,

The main US foreign policy in the 19th centtury was the Monroe Doctrine, which was largely enforced by the Royal Navy against everybody except the UK, albeit inadvertently!
