What do you think that Yugoslavia's history over the last 80 years would have looked like without the Nazi invasion? For instance, what if there was no Fall of France in 1940 and thus no Axis invasion of Yugoslavia in 1941?

I do hope that I posted this thread in the right place since Yugoslavia was briefly a member of the Axis in 1941 before the coup that overthrew Prince Paul, no?

I doubt there would be a Yugoslavia at all.

It would still get dismembered? Into seven separate countries or only into three (Slovenia, Greater Croatia, and Greater Serbia)?

This presupposes that Italy will not invade Yugoslavia, which isn't likely. Mussolini had his eyes on Yugoslavia, and even if Hitler doesn't invade, Mussolini probably will. In that case however, it'll be a tougher fight than Greece made of it (which was absolutely heroic) simply because Yugoslavia is a larger nation. It is within Italy's capabilities to conquer Yugoslavia, it could happen. It is equally possible that Yugoslavia is victorious, in which case the war becomes a unifying event, cementing the union and strengthening the ties between ethnic groups. If that occurs, Yugoslavia will probably enact laws ensuring more equality between the groups, and be a rather powerful nation in that area.

But would Mussolini actually dare to invade Yugoslavia if he can't even win his war in Greece?

There is nothing to say he wouldn't attack Yugoslavia before attacking Greece is there? He may well have forgone that ill fated venture for a different one with even more dire consequences, with some grandiose addled ideas of conquering Greece later, or simply squeezing concessions of some type from her.

It would have ended up falling apart much sooner and becoming a group of small states. It was only Tito's Communist rule that held it together post WW 2.

But Greece is an easier target due to its smaller population, no?

This topic fails to meet the section rules, so it's locked. Furthermore, AHF is not interested in opinion threads. The rules are posted for all to see, and have been for years:
