Countries and/or insurgencies that have been capable of successfully fighting a prolonged war with a superpower?

Which additional realistic cases could there have been of countries and/or insurgencies that have been capable of successfully fighting a prolonged war with a superpower? So far, I can think of the Vietnamese Communists' fight against the Americans and their South Vietnamese allies (ultimately successful)--and of course the Vietnamese Communists' fight against France (likewise ultimately successful, though France was more of a Great Power-plus rather than a superpower) also deserves an honorable mention here--as well as the Taliban's fight against the Americans and the internationally recognized Afghan government (whose outcome is still ultimately yet to be decided) and of course the Mujahideen's fight against the Soviet Union and the Soviet-backed Communist Afghan government (ultimately successful once the Soviet Union collapsed and broke up). However, which additional realistic cases of this could there have been?

Note: This is an alternate history question. Also, Yes, I'm well-aware of wars such as the Algerian War, though ultimately the Algerians militarily (albeit NOT politically) lost that war and the Algerians didn't have to fight anywhere near as long as either the Vietnamese Communists or the Taliban did.

Hi Futurist,

You have rather boxed yourself in by restricting this to superpowers. There have only been two, so far. One dissolved after 45 years. Only one is still going.

Cheers,

Sid.

You could toss in Yugoslavia in that mix. For all intents Tito and the Yugoslavian Communists won their war with Germany. He was able to keep the Soviets out too.

Further back in history:

Haiti won against France, a sort of superpower of the day
America won against the British
The Germanic tribes versus Rome
Cuba v. the US in a sense (in part because the US didn't get involved much unlike the earlier crushing of a revolution in the Dominican Republic)

Might be category

Israel v. British there was to be a handover but the UN and British were foot dragging on it.
Maoist Communists v. Japan. If you count them as a separate entity from the Chinese government in control of a territory, they were successful in keeping Japan at bay while not succumbing to the Chinese government.

Yes, but I want to include hypothetical examples of this that could have realistically occurred but didn't actually occur in real life.

For what it's worth, I want this question to focus on hypothetical cases of this that could have realistically occurred but that didn't actually occur in real life. This is why I posted this question in the alternate history section of this forum, after all.
