Imagine that Franklin D. Roosevelt decided to make a presidential trip to Nazi Germany in early 1936, and he holds a meeting with Adolf Hitler in the Reich Chancellery to negotiate bilateral trade deals to facilitate the sales of ham, beer, and Volkswagen cars to the United States. How would mainstream US society react to FDR making a state visit to Nazi Germany in early 1936?
