Point taken, but I was actually replying to a broader concept from the IP. There was at least an imagined threat of a land invasion in late summer 1940, for which the UK was outmatched as far as land forces capability.
If Hitler changed his mind a year later due to UK's refusal to seek terms, at least the British Army would have had that time to bind their wounds and rebuild.

Yes, the Soviets went to full war economy before 1941 though, it just takes time to mobilize industry on that scale. Tooze kind of delves into that in The Wages of Destruction, in that what the Soviets were doing 1942-1944 was completely unsustainable and already in collapse by the latter year; it basically requires to take huge strategic gamble before ignoring whether you could get it done in time.
