Hi WM
To replace the Jews in local economies, the Germans created trade schools where the "natives" were going to learn all the necessary skills.
How is that not a waste of resources?

It was, but as the economy of conquered territories had collapsed (there was little to buy, and people couldn't afford anything), it was of little consequence.
And after the war, the "natives" were going to bear the costs of it - and that was of no concern for the Germans. Actually, it was desirable to keep them poor; they were going to be a reservoir of unskilled workforce for Germany and nothing else.

The selection provided Germany with, badly needed skilled and unskilled workers - the process wasn't maybe highly efficient, but actually, the process of recruiting forced laborers wasn't highly efficient either.
In the end it was good enough.

even 1942-3 is too late to prevent Hitler becoming a martyr and hero long-term and also too late for anything other than US.
A martyr and hero? Hitler?
If he dies in 1942-43, before D-Day, before the major bursts of the Holocaust (including Hungarian Jews), his successor will be blamed by many Germans for decades - and some Germans even in the alternate present - for the final stages and the defeat.

Stalin and Mao got away with it, and today they are considered heroes by lots of people.

And anyway, before 1942, Hitler killed millions of people, including Poles, the "unworthy to live," and the Soviet POWs.
It wasn't like it began with the Jews.

So did Kemel Ataturk and he's widely considered a great man.

I'll also point out that many countries were still forcibly sterilising disabled people etc. until the 1970s.

I went to primary school in the 1980s. One of the first disabled children to be mainstreamed - what the generation who were teachers and staff called "integration children". I was only allowed to attend for half the day and excluded from school excursions such as swimming. My disability is left hemiparesis.

Wasn't that a ww1 thing when caregivers were stealing food from their handicapped patients during the famine in Germany? Condemning them to death?

We have a mentally challenged girl in elementary school; it must have been a mistake because such children attended special schools.
The kids frequently ganged up on her and (verbally) assaulted for fun, so they had to transfer her.
We, and especially kids, are monsters.
