Chamberlain´s plane to Godesberg crashed...

Post by Wasa » 01 Jun 2004 13:15

...in the middle of September 1938 and Munich conference never happened, what about Sudetenland and Czechoslovakia then?
Would Hitler have gone through with Fall Grün then or did he get cold feet?

One assumes that the death of Chamberlain would kill the conference. Would the British not simply send a deputy or the new Prime Minister instead?

The new prime minister would likely be Lord Halifax or Churchill as in 1940.

Well, if Churchill wouldn´t that also mean that Munich never happened?

If Chamberlain's plane had crashed en route to Godesberg and Winston Churchill got appointed prime minister by the British Parliament, the Munich Conference would have been canceled and Churchill would have taken action to break off diplomatic ties with the Nazi government and impose an embargo on trade with Germany after Kristallnacht because he fiercely opposed Churchill's appeasement policies.
