Postby lionfish » 16 May 2018 10:27

Hello,

Do you know when the emblem of the Statue of Liberty was painted on the tower of U 2513, please ?

By german crew for a mission on the american coasts ? Or by american crew ?

Thank you very much,
Lionfish.

Hi there Lionfish!
It's a US insignia - represents the "Rainbow Division", Liberty being the US, the shamrocks are Ireland where she was picked up and the iron cross being her former country of origin.
See the linked interview for more info on her first US crew and p.3 for insignia explanation.
