Type VII
Re: Type VII
Hello,
Do you see the school emblem on each side of the tower ? Maybe White-Black-White horizontal bands ? The same as U 29 ?
Best regards,
Lionfish

Re: Type VII
If I'm right, U 29 had White-Black-White horizontal bands painted on each side of the tower. This school emblem could be transfered to U 749 after U 29 was out of the school service in July 1944.

Lionfish.

Re: Type VII
And there is no way that Gert Dültgen would not be wearing his Zerstörer-Kriegsabzeichen, I wonder who this is ?

Re: Type VII
Two possibilities:
1- In many photos some officers only use EK 1 and U-Boots-Kriegsabzeichen.
2- The person in the photo is not actually "Gert Dültgen"

PS:
Meanwhile on the Crewbuch 37b there is a picture of the similar Gerd Dültgen, unhappily in the beach house where I am I can not digitalise.
Best Regards, Fernando

Re: Type VII
Hi Nobby,
it is Dültgen.
Following the disaster I fled to France on holidays and watched the final at the Bretagne with lots of enthusiastic Frenchmen and a nice bottle of cidre. What a day, ending on the beach with a swim. Shall do so again in four years time!!!
Cheers

Re: Type VII
Thanks Axel.
It seems that not all awards were worn then.
I now look forward to the new season and the continuing farce of VAR!
