U-Boat construction in the Masurian lakeland

#1

My latest blog about the unfinished canal that would have connected the beautiful Polish Masurian Lake District to the Baltic Sea. There is speculation that the largest Lock and some of the structures at the nearby Mauerwald were for the construction and/or maintenance of U-Boats that could connect to the Baltic by the (unfinished) Masurian Canal.

Any views?

The answer is no.
Masurian Canal was 2,5m deep and for ships of so called Finow type. It was not deep enough for U-boats.
And why building U-Boats there?

Thanks Manfred, I state something similar in my blog, I just wondered why there was so much speculation and a museum display of a U-Boat at Mauerwald at the source of the canal.
