Hi Nobby, Looks like the commissioning of U 1209.
Check the tug in the background and the position of the swastika on the gangplank, it overlaps on the side away from the camera.

Rare view of wappen U 414! Hogel book does not display Uboot as well as straw boater!
Anyone know if commander and crew of this boat were awarded any awards ???

where did you find that shot named U 414? Is this a cut fom a larger pic or just this size? Looks interestin.

This found on ebay last week but it now seems to have disappered! It is original size. I see a toothbrush? and name on hat band!

To me it looks like one of the first boat from Howaldtswerke AG Kiel shipyard because of the antenna inlet placement and the width of the light channel. Perhaps U 371
