surrendering uboats?
what happened to all of the uboats crews once they got word of the wars ending? did they go to south america or did they go back to home ports? also are there still uboat pins left in france and if anybody has any upto date photos can you please share?
From the recollections and accounts of some crews, some of them did not believe the war had ended until quite a few days after it had. The 'standard' procedure was to signal to the British and US fleets in order to get directions and instructions on which ports to head towards. There were 62 U-boats at sea at the official end of hostilities, and 54 of them followed this procedure.
There appears to have been 2 U-boats who made it to the coast of Argentina (U-977 and U-530). They were surrendered to the USN there.
You might find this site quite interesting as it discusses U-boats in quite some depth:

There are links to histories of the individual u-boats in the list although there is no information specifically on the crews' fate upon surrender as far as I can tell.
