One U-boat sank in the pier base in France, because one ballast tank vent valve had left open, by the negligence of 1. Watch Officer and 2. Watch Officer.
The court of enquiry decided that both watch officers pay the cost of refit about 80.000 RM.
Later the two officers came to command U-Boats.

Questions:
Date and place of the incident?
What is the U-boat and the name of the Commander?
What are the names of the Watch Officers?

Hey, what happened?! We were going so good! Nobody knows the answer? (I sure don't!) How about a hint, FAlmeida, like what year did it happen or what type of boat it was?

Now a new question

Marinestabsarzt Dr. Paul Pfaffinger took the command of one boat and return to Brest after the CO and all the naval officers was injured after a air attack by aircraft from RAF.
What is the boat, the commander name and date of the incident ?

Good evening, Fernando!

This was U-441 commanded by Kptlt. Klaus Hartmann on 12 July 1943 after strafing by Beaufighters.
BTW, as far as I remember Dr.Pfaffinger was a yachtsman and that made navigating the U-boot easier for him.

Best regards, Aleks

Thanks, Fernando!

My question is: what was operation "Taube" and how was it connected with the U-bootwaffe?

Best regards, Aleks
