Does anyone know why U 108 appears to have 2 different conningtower emblems ?..ie the crown and crosses ..and the Polar bear .
The crown and the crosses are the coat of arms for Danzig. It was also used by the 8 Unterseebootsflotille as their emblem. The 8th Unterseebootsflotille was stationed in Danzig. Perhaps wrong, but the pictures with the crown and crosses as a extra emblem is either taken after U 108 was transfered to Danzig, or they used as a gesture to their "hometown" as german towns "adopted" submarines.

It would be interesting to find out why they used the coat of arms for Danzig, as Ralf-Reimar Wolfram also used this on the U 864. He was as you know on U 108.
