U 393 (Type VII C) was assigned to the Test Group (Erprobungsgruppe) called Sultan.
For this reason she wore a colorful sultan on the front of the conning tower

Emblem of the U 462.

Among the emblems of U 462 (Type XIV - resupply U boat) we find the coat of arms of the city of Fürstenwalde in the Oder-Spree district of Brandenburg, Germany. An octopus and the inscription "Dienst Vowe" (Vowe Service) by the name of her commander the Oblt. z.S. Bruno Vowe .....................

Hi
No comment on my last post so I will try another
This is U 292 Type VIIC/41. The commander was Lt Werner Schmidt who served on U 87 before comissioning U 292. I think the "claw" is in memory of U87 and his lost comrades. I am however still an amateur!

Hi Nobby,

your U 292 is in fact U 116.

Sorry to say, but I don't see any chance to achieve a higher classification for you in the near future!

Anyway, keep on rockin'

Seems the museum researchers have it wrong!
My story was very good though regarding the commander!
Will continue my quest for glory
Many regards

Hi
Apologies if this been done before! I have been researching U759 and found this at http://uboot-recherche.de/en/
Looks like a nautilus! The only emblem I have seen for this boat is a diving eagle. Have they got it wrong?

Very interesting!
