On post#94 of the mugshot of Karl-Heinz Moehle while at a POW camp, the mustache that Moehle was wearing was kind of messed up. I think he was later clean shaven on the upper lip when he shave the mustache off for his trial.

Hello to all :D; more....................................

Visit to the city of Bayreuth - July 1940.

After 25 days, the U-37 returned to Wilhelmshaven on June 9, 1940. In this patrol, it was able to sink 10 ships with a total of 41,107 GRT and damage 1 ship with 9,393 GRT. The submersible sailed again from Wilhelmshaven in command of the Kplt. Victor Oehrn, on August 1, 1940. However, from what this album shows, in the middle of both patrols, the crew visited the city of Bayreuth in July ........ There was also the Korvettenkapitän Werner Hartmann, former commander and at that time 1. Admiralstabsoffizier on the BdU General Staff.

Hi Raul,

I am sorry to say but it is highly unlikely that the person on your photograph is indeed Scheple. The officer shown is clearly a Oberleutnant zur See from the two white stripes on his uniform. Schepke was promoted to Kapitänleutnant already on 1 June 1940 and U 100 never carried the wind jet installation on its conning tower. The boat shown on your photograph is a late war shot.

Best

Axel
