Hello to all :D; a little complement...................

The precursor - CV 707.

Commanders were kplt a.D. Werner Fürbringer until August 1933 and then kplt a.D. Robert Bräutigam; the LI was Papenberg. During the tests in 1933, the crew consisted of Oblt z. S. Kurt Freiwald, Alfred Behr, Klaus Ewerth, Harald Grosse, the Oblt (Eng) Albert Müller, Heinrich Schmidt, Wolfgang Winkler and Hans Droeschel.

From May to August 1934 it carryed out a new training navigation with seven young officers (Oblt. z. S. Hans Looff, Werner v. Schmidt, Hermann Michahelles, Heinz Scheringer, Lt. z. S. Hans Looschen, Hans Meckel and Hannes Weingartner) and six non-commissioned officers; Brautigam was the commander, LI Papenberg and assistant (IWO) Freiwald.

Hello to all :D; something more..................

A U 27's skipper...............

On June 6, 1939 Kap z. S. Hans-Georg von Friedeburg took over the U 27 until July 8, 1939; during the WWI he had served as WO of U 114 (June-November 1918) and during 1938 he had conducted a patrol as a guest aboard the U 35 during the Spanish Civil War.

Hello to all :D; something more..................

The last Kaleun of U 27!

Kapitänleutnant Johannes Franz, born in Rhein on May 18, 1907, entered the German Navy on October 12, 1926 to be part of the crew of 1926. He was given command of U 27 on October 5, 1937 and exercised until May 6, 1939, when he was succeeded for a short period for Kap z. S. Hans-Georg von Friedeburg, from who took over again the boat on July 8, 1939 and held it until the sinking of the submarine on September 20, 1939.

Before the war carried out two patrols with the U 27 during the Spanish Civil War July 30 to August 15, 1938 and August 29 to October 22, 1938. During World War II he conducted only one patrol at the beginning of the war which resulted in the sinking of his boat. From August 23 to September 20, 1939.
