MechOGfr(T) Friedrich Georg Becker was the uncle of a friend of mine. He served on U 609 which was lost to depth charges from the Free French corvette Lobelia on 7 Feb 1943 in the North Atlantic. (55.17N 26.38W) My friend has previously posted some pictures on the U-Boot website. Here are three pictures courtesy of T.Becker who is the owner of the original pictures. The commander of U 609 was Oblt Klaus Rudloff at the time it was lost with all hands. The portrait is of Fritz Becker and the group picture was apparently taken when the crew commenced training together prior to operations.

My father was on the USS Capira. (He survived!) Torpedoed by U 609. I would like to know more about the crew of U 609.
