Hello nobby :D; a little delay but...........................

Damage in U 97 1941.

Dec 04, 1941 at 18:33 U 97 Udo Heilmann damage caused by ground contact. Stranded, pulled free. Grid CK89. Dec 08, 1941 entered port - Salamis (first source).

However a second source: U 97, under Kplt. Udo Heilmann, ran out of Salamis on 04.12.1941. The boat, however, had to break the patrol after a ground contact. On December 08, 1941 U 97 entered Piraeus. There she went to the dock.

22.12.1941 - Piraeus - - - - - - - - 22.12.1941 - Salamis. U 97, under Kplt. Udo Heilmann, moved, after the repair, from Piraeus to Salamis.

The U 97 sails from Pola on June 5, 1943, at the front of the conning tower the Olympic
rings since the Kapitänleutnant Hans-Georg Trox belonged to the Crew 1936; (AFAIK)
this would be her last patrol (sunk on June
16, 1943 after an air attack - 27 KiA, including the commander)
