Hello to all :D; a little input Andrew................

U Boats Type VII A.

Armament four torpedo tubes of 533 mm forward (Bow) and one aft, outside the pressure hull (could be reloaded only on the surface); carrying a load of 11 torpedoes. But surely they were able to launch while submerged. But once launched the torpedo loaded in the aft tube, the boat must go to the surface in order to reload it. From the type VIIB hereinafter, the aft tube was within the hull, allowing reloading while submerged.

AFAIK, the external rear tube was only loaded in port, it could not be reloaded at sea - as there were no provisions for reloading that tube.

Hello,

I'm asking about the saddle tank of the typ VIIa. I saw two form ot saddle tanks: the original rounded and a flated later typ.

Do you know that u-boats were fitted with the flated saddle tanks and when ?
Maybe U-30, U-31, U-32, U-33, and U-34 ?

You know ? I'm still looking for good drawings of typ VIIa.

Thank you very much,

Best regards,

Lionfish.

Hello to all :D; a little more.........................

A peculiarity of the Type VII A was the hump of the external torpedo tube, clearly visible aft on the deck. This external stern torpedo tube could only be reloaded once arriving in port .................
