Type VII
Re: Type VII
hi,
Finally,i got a positive ID for this boat .
U 660.
Commander Götz Baur is removing or painting the UAK symbol on the antenna housing(cirkel and above a horizontal bar).
Iam thinking he is removing the UAK symbol.
Also, note the Frontreif emblem on the antenna housing.
Hope you like it.
my best regards,
Ron.

Re: Type VII
hi,
Type VII with a shield of Baron von Münchhausen,i still don`t see the connection between the boat and the Baron.
I think the location is Howaldtswerke in Hamburg, the ship in the back looks the same as seen in commissioned photos of U 677.
Only the boat in question has a different nav light as seen on some Howaldtswerke boats.
Baron von Munchhausen riding a cannonbal.

U-who.
my best regards,
Ron.

Re: Type VII
Hi
The connection is that the book Baron Münchausen was based on Hieronymus von Münchausen, the same surname as the first commander U 678! I think

Re: Type VII
Any one knows what versions of VII type were produced at Schichau's shipyard in Elbing?

Re: Type VII
HI
Found this
U-boat production
In World War I, Schichau initiated production of U-boat production. Both boats had not been completed when the war ended and were eventually broken up. During World War II, Schichau built 94 U-boats for the Kriegsmarine (German Navy) at its Danzig shipyard. The yard in Elbing produced midget submarines of the Seehund class. In addition to the manufacture of Type VII C submarines, the shipyard in Danzig also built the revolutionary Type XXI U-boats. Up to 1944, 62 Type VII C U-boats (and two Type VII C/41s) were built, before production was switched to the Type XXI. A total of 30 submarines of this latter class were built and launched at Danzig by the end of the war, but never saw combat.
