Hi,

This pic is posted before, I can`t remember where.

Regarding the Askania,it has the same shape as seen on U 1192, U 1196 and U 1197 (thanks Axel).
I am thinking this boat is from the same series. It looks like this boat has the schnorkel with a floating valve.

U 1199 ???????????????????,any comments please.

Ron.

Hello Bad Karma,

The askania was different on U 1198.
Look the typ of the schnorchel. It was from an earlier typ from the fall of 1943 to March, April 1944.

Best regards,
Lionfish.

Hi Lionfish,

I`ll get back at you on this.

Did some further study on these three pics,i think these are all taken on the same day.

The saluting men on the right i don`t reconize, any sugestions??
The Konteradmiral on left looks like Werner Emil Hermann Scheer a former commander of U-10,
he was a WWI veteran.He was a WO on two WWI boats,UB U 30 and UB 85.
He survived the war and died on 27-08-1976 in Büdingen,Hessen,Germany age 83.

I think this the U 762.

HI I suspect you are correct the same admiral was pictured at the commissioning of U 756 and U 757. The square speaker bracket, the rope cleats just forward of the vertical railing support and the seemingly one piece wooden seats on the wintergarden all point to a U 751 - 768 series boat.

Hi there,

Third pic is U 758 during commissioning ceremony. Second pic is clearly not showing same boat.

Scheer was a common guest during commissioning ceremonies at KMW during the war.

Cheers

Hi Axel,

Thanks, you`re right i see it now, the rectangular box behind the the platform is different.
These pics are listed as``U 758.

4) Now i have my doubts, is this Helmut Manseck (walking)?, note; look at the position af the yard cranes.
Image

5) The position of the yard cranes is the same in this pic. The dark spot (diagonal) on right side of the CT,
always thought that was some sort of cammo pattern, is that a shadow?

Hi guys,

I want to make a correction, regarding UBIF edition 2 and 3.
The boat in question on photo 52 is not U 79, but U 75 arrival at Salamis on 02.11.1941 under Helmut Ringelmann.
Still missing edition 9, 11, 12 and 13, maybe this boat is allready identified in one of those missing editions, i can`t tell.

Pic 1, edition 2.

Pic 2, edition 3.

It looks like this is the U 237 commissioned for second time on 08.10.1943, 2 jump wires to the bow, 1 jump wire to the stern.
Commander Lothar König standing left ????.
