Hello,

I found on this page, HMSC Monnow was used as an escort vessel from Trondheim to Loch Eriboll, escorting surrendered U-boats.

http://www.desausa.org/images3/forgotten_operation.htm

Only one submarine with HMSC Monnow was noted : U 481. But on the picture, this not U 481 ! Who is it ?

Best regards,
Lionfish

Hi
My little research as come up with that this ship was escorting surrendered boats from TRONDHIEM to ERIBOLL.
9 boats surrended here which were schnorkel fitted.315,773,775,953,978,1019,1064.1203.Not 953 in foto.
Have I missed any?

Gents,

We can also remove these two boats from the list,
U 978 (diffent deck), U 1203 (askania in front of the CT).

Does anyone have a pic of U 773.

my best regards,

Ron.

Gents,

I know this pic, but i have my doubts  .

I think U 315`s Snort was fit between 6 Jan 1945 and 15 Feb 1945.
Alot of details could be changed in this period during the contruction of the Snort.

The discussed boat.

What do you think.

Hi,

Bremen Vulkan-Vegasacker Werft.

This thread, page 14 and 15.

U 78 left, transferred to the Baltic for trainings duties only, untill the boat was sunk on 16-04-1945.
U 56 in the middle, U 59 on the right.

I agree with Pikap.

U 82, Tirpitz left, this Battleship was allready commissioned into the Kriegsmarine.

Question; Does anyone has a pic of U 76 a Type VII-B.

my best regards,

Ron.

Hello to all :D; just curious about that U 315.......................

U-boats that surrendered at the end of the War.

See here http://uboat.net/fates/surrendered.htm

But about U 315: Surrendered at Trondheim, Norway on 9 May 1945.

Post war information (see more post-war boats):
Unseaworthy. Not transferred to UK. Scrapped on-site in Norway in March 1947.
http://uboat.net/boats/u315.htm

As the picture was taken in Loch Eriboll, then she could not be U 315. The caption reads: Surrendered U-Boat alongside HMCS Monnow, Loch Eriboll, Scotland, May 1945. "A German sub tied along side of us at Loch Eriboll - North Coast of Scotland. First stop from Norway. Will explain details of picture later, such as slot in deck. I was all through this sub."
