After Dönitz was captured near Malta in 1918 I haven't been able to find out where he was held by the British. Was it on Malta itself or elsewhere?

AFAIK he was first held on Malta and later sent to Redmires near Sheffield in Great Britain. After a short stay at the Manchester Lunatic Asylum, he was released on July 1919.

Thanks :-) I wonder if he learned English whilst prisoner of the Brits, or before the first world war...
