Rammed!

Post by tigre » 10 Mar 2019 22:44

Hello to all :D; a query: U boot badly damaged - October 1941.
As per the seller, allegedly the picture belongs to U 753. In the back of the photo it was written "Our conning tower seen from the bow, October 29, 1941". I can not find anything like this kind of incident for U 753.

Any idea of this incident? Cheers. Raúl M 8).

How much you want to bet that the next time they practiced emergency dives, the crew managed to cut a second of their previous time.

Hi Raul,
I didn't found something about that fact.
The U-753 was a Type VIIC U-boat built for Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine for service during World War II. Commissioned on 18 June 1941, she served with 3rd U-boat Flotilla until 30 November as a training boat
Thus in the month of october 1941 the U-753 was still on training and not in active duty.

An other question:
Since several monts I am not more able to login into the Feldgrau forum (and I am not the sole). Were you able to login into that forum?????
Kindly regards
Prosper

Hello to all :D; another one: Collision of U 25 (Type I A)!.

Wednesday June 19, 1940.

U 25 - North Atlantic - 00:30 - Convoy in sight. Submerged to attack one tanker. 01:28 - Torpedo launched. Impact, violent detonation. The French BRUMAIRE was damaged. As the second tanker was about to be attacked, the submersible was rammed. Descent to 90 m. nearby destroyer. Without wabos (depth charges). At periscope depth after 30 minutes. The periscopes are fixed. To surface. The conning tower hatch cannot be opened. Galley hatch used. The ship scraped the starboard side of theconning tower and dented the bridge forward. Both periscopes out of service. Impacted tanker is 2500m away. Impossible a coup de grâce although the tanker seems to be sinking and the submersible is not ready for action. The tanker sinks a little later (incorrect observation). Convoy out of sight. Sailing west for repairs. 12:00 - Outgoing radio message: "Ramming during submarine attack on convoy, bridge dented. Both periscopes out of order. Begin march back." 16:00 Tower hatch can be opened halfway again, ability to dive restored. Rear periscope in service according to order. The Commander: "Take advantage of favorable weather conditions for as long as possible before you have to return. Continue the trade war as soon as the hatch is fully operational again." 20:00 - Repair work on deck (BF 4483). No more occurrences. PQ: BF 4391 → BF 4378 → BF 4531 → BF 4542 → BF 4483. Under Kapitänleutnant Heinz Beduhn (May – August 1940).

Hello to all :D; another one: Collision of U 34 (Type VII A)!.

U 34 sank on August 5, 1943 at 9:55 p.m., as a training U-boat, in the Baltic Sea off Memel after a collision with the German U-boat tender ship LECH. She was raised on August 24, 1943 and towed to the dock of the Lindau shipyard. There the submersible was put out of service on September 08, 1943. U 34 was then to be towed to the west, but on the way she sank off Warnemünde at position 54 ° 20.5 'north-12 ° 04.5' east. She was recovered by the GDR in April 1953 and scrapped at the Volkswerft in Stralsund. As a result of the event, four crew members perished (Doreis, Johannes; Heger, Rudolf; Nöthling, Karl and Wiegelmann, Johannes). At the time the boat was in command of Leutnant zur See Eduard Aust.
