u boats attacking Arctic convoys of WW2

Hello I am a historian writing a book about the Arctic convoys of WW2. I have been commissioned by the British publisher Harper Collins. I am wondering whether any forum users have any interesting information about the u-boats which attacked these convoys. For example do any of you know of any vivid written or recorded accounts of what was witnessed or relevant photos or little-known books. I am particularly interested in accounts of what happened on those convoys where there were battles or where ships were sunk. If anyone can help, please contact me. It would also be very useful if you could tell me about any other groups, associations, clubs, online forums or people that I should contact. I would be most grateful for any suggestions.

I do not know what you know. I assume you have all of the relevant books?

I have most of the best known books in English. But what I would like to know is: does anyone on this site know of any German books that give vivid and dramatic descriptions of what the uboat crews - or the crews on German surface ships and Luftwaffe aircraft - witnessed as they attacked the Arctic convoys. I would also be interested in books in English which are not the standard works that include or refer to vivid first hand accounts of what was witnessed during such attacks. I have read most of the best known English books on the subject.

Peace hath her victories no less renowned than War
(John Milton, the poet, in a letter to the Lord General Cromwell, May 1652)
