Polish variants of the Vickers 6 ton tank?

#1

Post by Coconuts » 17 Jun 2008, 22:00

I have been thinking about scratchbuilding/converting some of the Polish versions of the Vickers 6 ton light tank.

I have found a source for plans, which mentions a number of interesting variants built by the Poles. These include:

A Type A tank armed with a Browning m.30 MG in one turret and a (French?) 37mm SA 18 gun in the other... and, another type A, this time with Hotchkiss M.25 MG in one turret and a Browning m.30 in the other.

Apparently Hotchkiss 13.5 mm heavy machine guns were also fitted to at least one tank.

Unfortunately I don't have any good references on Polish armour in the 30s, because I am wondering how many of each type were made, and why these different weapons were fitted. Were they intended as tests? Which was the one chosen to go into service?

If anyone can help...?

This page should give you a LITTLE more, including some pics of the variants.

Go to the Poland section, then the page on "The 7TP"
