An unexpected defender of Monte Cassino

When looking at photos about Monte Cassino http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205254395 I came across this one labelled body of a German female paratrooper. I have never come across any mention of females serving with the parachute units defending Monte Cassino previously. Can anyone shed any light on female fallschirmjager at Cassino.
