Hello! I am writing to you from Europe, from far away Poland. We are looking for our heroes, including the family of the first B17 bomber pilot "Scarlet Harlot" from the war, the crew commander, Lieutenant Robert Walker, who died on April 9, 1944 west of the city of Gdynia. They bombed German armaments plants and were shot down on the way home. Lieutenant Walker was from Jesup, Georgia. Do you know anyone from his family? This is very important, please contact me! https://www.americanairmuseum.com/aircraft/10540

In regard to Lt Walker his FAG memorial is at
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/235 ... t-k-walker
conecting him to his parents and two siblings
Note it will be merged with another FAG memorial that has his name on Walls of the Missing

In regard to Wayne Co Georgia
found the following links
http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ga/county/fulton/wayne/
https://www.genealogyinc.com/georgia/wayne-county/
Note last reference has an address for Wayne County Hist Soc please write to them if they have newsletter for inquiries such as this

I only regret to say I do not know why his cenopath memorial in Georgia has a DOD of 1943 instead of 1944

Hope this is helpful :welcome:

Thank you beautifully. Your records confirm that Lieutenant Robert K. Walker (born 1918) may still be buried in the forest near the Polish town of Lebork ... Your records show that his mother outlived everyone. Husband, children ... she died only in 1988. I have already written a letter regarding the search in the field to the Polish Institute of National Remembrance and the US Embassy in Warsaw. There I described the whole matter and my findings. I am waiting for a response...

Thank you. Maybe you can find out if this Robert K. Walker (who died in 1943) was his twin brother?

Maybe that first big brother had some children? In Jesup I saw a lot of people on FB with the name Walker. Nissan's dealer is Walker, sheriff I think so is. I wrote an email to them, they didn't reply :(

Someone must still be alive ... grandchildren, great-grandchildren ... in one forum a certain Robert Brewkamp said in 2018, someone like that wrote that this pilot is his distant uncle ?!

I am also looking for a contact to the actress Lorraine Stephens, 83 years old. As it appears from the Internet, she is still alive. It was the wife of your famous Hollywood producer David Gerber (died 2010), he was also on the crew of that B-17, he survived ...

I would like to ask her one or two questions ...

Did your husband ever recall what happened in this forest on April 9, 1944?

At what point did he last see the commander of this B-17, Lieutenant Robert Walker?
