Re: Recommended reading on France 1919-1945
yes, it is an autocanon de 47mm during the Great War
some news coming from François Vauvillier and H&C company
the new issue 114 has been published
http://www.histoireetcollections.com/fr ... -n114.html
fall november a new hors-série issue (n°3) will see the light about the immatriculations, registration numbering system of 100 000 military vehicles
and a new volume of the Encyclopedia of the French Army serie will be added about the D2 Tanks
I assume that an english version will be available like for the others volumes

Thanks! A great shame there weren't a few hundred of those left over and in depots in 1939. That gun looks like it could make a nice hole in a German MkIII or less.

Re: Recommended reading on France 1919-1945
I saw an old friend's recommendation of Kiesling's Arming Against Hitler, and I agree entirely. It is an indispensable volume regarding this period.
There are a couple of other volumes I was hoping to get input on.
First is Grandeur And Misery: France's Bid for Power in Europe, 1914-1940 by Anthony Adamthwaite. I've seen it cited fairly routinely and have read a good review or two.
Next is France and the Nazi Threat: The Collapse of French Diplomacy 1932-1939 by Jean-Baptiste Duroselle. I have not seen much about this one.
Any thoughts?

Re: Recommended reading on France 1919-1945
Many Thanks Attrition for the quick reply...but I am looking ' If wehrmacht had made an extensive use of modern french weapons and mainly of the captured in manufacturers even at various stages of production in armistice period till the occupation of Vichy Zone.
Re: Recommended reading on France 1919-1945
Many Thanks Attrition once more, a amazing article and a start to a great research but now ... if someone could lead to Artillery and Mortars in german use in combat and his production on the period May 1940 to the opening of Operation Barbarossa (not the wiki links but something more specific)
