Ploujean (Brittany) Airport

Post by French One » 08 May 2019, 12:34

Hello,

I would like to know which German unit (s) were present on Ploujean airfield near Morlaix (Brittany).
I have a letter from a German soldier saying he had to destroy the airfield in June 1944. He was 23 years old.
My great grandfather was Mayor of Ploujean at that time.

Thank you!

There were two German divisions that withdrew to Brest during the time frame mentioned - the 266. Infanterie-Division and the 353. Infanterie-Division. Either of these divisions could have destroyed the infrastructure at the airbase at Ploujean.

Here is a map showing the Division locations as of D-Day.
