I don't have pictures of both generals but for me your general Durand is probably more the Colonel commanding the 2e DLCh and Brigadier of the 40e DI than the second Pierre who was in the 68e DI destroyed in the pocket of Dunkerque 4 june 1940

first, this man has a beret, curious for a general...but less for a former officer chief the 2e DLCh : basically a Chasseurs Alpins & à pied Light Division for Scandinavia (who only saw Scotland), and as he was just colonel commanding this division, this could explain too why he seems to still wear an alpine regimental insignia although he had a whole division (I think it is perhaps the 3e RIA, an alpine regiment not belonging to this division, probably the last command he had, I don't know where he served before the 2e DLCh)
Colonel Durand was appointed Brigadier General of the newly-created and short-lived 40th Infantry Division in june 1940 formed by the 2e DLCh and others elements of the 1ére DLCh, destroyed and mainly captured in the pocket of Saint-Valéry-en-Caux in Upper Normandy (himself prisoner of war 12 june 1940)

the picture dated 19 june 1940 was probably taken there or in the area I assume

in this thread he was named André, not Maurice
http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 2&t=169290
and in an other Albert Hippolyte Charles (1867-1955)

Generaloberst Fedor von Bock with French General Henri-Dentz (back to camera) in the Place de la Concorde during the fall of Paris to the Germans. Who is the other French general with Dentz? Is he Charles Huntziger? In what capacity was this two general?

Thanks in advance...

Hi,
Thank you very much!
2 does not look like General Mendigal, but I am not sure.
He looks like a Général de division aérienne.

Hi,
the first one (airforce General) is Major General Jean Marie Joseph Bergeret, assistant French high commissioner.

Hi,

Who can identify the general to the right? this picture was posted somewhere in the AHF two years ago, and the poster said it was one of the generals captured by Rommel in June 1940 at St Valery en Caux, during the surrender of general Marcel Ilher's IX Corps

Despite having received a superb response from photos of early 1930s military attaches which I posted on othere threads I am still left with a few ho remain unidentified. I believe , but I am not positive, that these theree photos depict French military attaches or (in one case an assistant) who were serving in Warsaw between 1934 and 1937. Can anyone perhaps help with their identification and perhaps a short biography?
Many thanks
Ian

translated by a friend of mine:
The dedication says: "to my dearest "petit co" (for little pal or comrade?) in memory of the unforgettable years in Metz and Saverne 1936-1939. Very affectionaly, Gal (for general?) XXX (can't read his signature)"

maybe keep an eye on this one: http://atf40.forumculture.net/t3982p30- ... tification
