Hi all,

Two images from Ebay:

Image 1: I think 75mm Mle 1933 guns without barrels
Image 2: I think 75mm Mle 1917/34 guns

On the other hand, I think it would have been more logical to name the 75mm Mle1930 gun as 75mm Mle 1917-30, as the Mle 1930 was a derivative of Mle 1917. :roll:

I agree with your ID for the 2 guns.

From what I understand,the Mle 17/34 was actually created after the Mle 1930. Thus, it is actually the Mle 17/34 which could have been called Mle 1934! But since the only change from the Mle 17 was the replacement of the Mle 1897 gun barrel by the Mle 1928 barrel without modifiyng the carriage, it was less modern than the Mle 1930 (with the Mle 1928 barrel), Mle 1932 and Mle 1933. Therefore, it would make sense to me to stick with Mle 17/34 to stress the oldest design of the carriage.

I think both the model Mle1930 and the Mle1917-34 were both derived from the original Mle1917:
Mle 1930 : same carriage but with Mle1928 barrel
Mle1917-34: same carriage, barrel Mle1928 but with a more modern AA fire control system.

I think the carriage was the same in the three models. So I see more logic the denomination Mle 1917-30.

There could be somehow a parallel in the Mle 17/34 designation with the modernization of the "autocanon" Mle 1913 into the Mle 13/34 i.e. installation of a more modern AA fire control system as part of the 1935 rearmament program. The Mle 1928 barrel was to powerful to be installed on the De Dion Bouton chassis.

Mle 33 indeed. Note the "C" for Caesar" added by the Germans: 3rd gun of their battery.

I am trying to identify these French naval AA guns. They look like 75 mm CA Mle 22, 24 or 27 but I'm not sure. And I don't know the vessel on which these turrets are mounted. US Press photo - 1939

Hi Stum78,

It's possible as Poland also used this self-propelled AA gun. But it's hard to confirm the country here just by looking at the architecture of the houses.
