Apparently French premier Reynaud had resigned his office after a bitter argument with Daladier (then war minister) and Gamelin.on May 9, 1940. the resignation was put on ice with the German invasion the next day. The question is who would have replaced him and would this have made a difference in French policy, militarily or diplomatically.

Yeah,Reynaud wanted tofight the germans at all costs. He wanted resistance to continue form the colonies. Weygand the new commander of the army did not. And in the wings Petain, many whom considered the saviour of france was waiting in the wings.

Churchill flew over to france and met the french cabinet, he asked "where are the reserves" to which Weygand replied "there are no more reserves". Churchilltold the French that the UK would fight on till victory. Weygand told the french cabinet that in six weeks Great Britian would have a neck rung like a chicken. Some neck, some chicken.

When the french signed an armsitce which was against britian and frances terms of alliance, the british seized french warships in british ports, there was hand to hand fighting as british marines boarded a french battleshipin portsmouth. hence Oran andMer el Kebir.

And the "small" guys like United States and Russia had nothing to do with defeating Germany, did they?

Do you actually believe that Britain could have won the war alone?

I understand now what is meant by taking words out of context.

If Great Britian had fallen then world democracy and the freedom that many hold dear would not be enjoyed.

Great Britian spent the accumulated wealth of over a century fighting agressive dictators. And if certain nations ahd faced up to there world responsibilities before Hitler had arrived then maybe there woulndt have been a war.

What i regard as one of the greatest travisties of this century is the refusal of the United States Senate to ratufy Wilsons treaty.

Thank God Great Britian held out. Thank God for Franklin Delano Roosevelt and for the Bravery of the Russian soldier.

"God heard the embattled nations sing and shout,
Gott straffe England and God save the King,
God this and God that,
My God said God, Ive got my work cut out!"
