2913 Disciplinary Training Center?

#1

Does anyone know anything about the 2913 (possibly 2913th) Disciplinary Training Center? I am seeking information about this particular unit. All I know for certain is that this unit was assigned to the European Theater of Operations, United States Army, and was apparently in operation as late as March, 1946. Master Sergeant John C. Wood (s) (*), an army hangman, was assigned to this unit at that time (**). Presumably, this unit must have been activated or renumbered sometime after the military prison at Shepton Mallet was designated as the 2912th DTC. It would have been under the command of a base section, but I'm not at all sure which one. Military executions are known to have taken place at both the Loire Base Section DTC, and the Seine Base Section DTC, so the '2913'' was likely assigned to one of these two commands.

(*) Listed in duty roster as as John C. Wood M/Sgt 3740591 2913 DIs Trn Cen

(*) As represented in ''List of all Official Members of Detail'', Report of the Execution of Alfons Klein Official Proceedings, 7 March 1946.

I am also interested in this Disciplinary Traing Center "2912 2913" because my father was sent there after a fight at a dance in Soham, England. He was sentenced to 198 days of confinement 1/2/1944, but restored to duty June 8, 1944 by order of Lt. General Lee signed by Brig. General R. B. Lovett, Adj. General and Brig. General R.B. Lord, Chief of Staff, June 19, 1944 10th Replacement Depot. He served out the rest of the war with the 471st Engr. Maintenance Co APO 126 USA 10/25/44.
Where is this center located?

My father who died in 1997 was a US soldier stationed at the 2913 Delta Base Disciplinary Traning Center in 1946. I have several pictures of the base. I would like to communicate with anyone with information regarding this base and will share what I have.

Dear Keeterville,

The unit you are talking about was it British or American ?

Or was it located inside an British facility with American staff ?

I am in the search of a British disciplinary unit in Persia or India, but it seems nobody has much information on them.

Yours is the first indication that those units operated during the war.

Thank you

Ignacio

Recently I received some letters that my father wrote to his sister during WW11. In them he mentions being in the "brig" or "clink" at the DTC in Loire,France. This was in the fall of 1945. Any info about this is appreciated.

The 2913th had three disciplinary training centers, in France, during and immediately after the war. They were all closed in 1946 and consolidated into one at Wurzburg, Germany. Prisoners not in training were sent back to the US while those wanting a return to active duty were moved to Wurzburg. Dshak I would love to see what is in your letters! nLet's get into contact!!

My Father served in the 759th "C" MP BN 7th Army and was stationed outside the Loire DTC Camp. It appears that they were to patrol and guard the outside of the camp and gate. While researching this I came across an Author, French MacLean who is also researching this camp. I sent him a few pictures.
