Re: I need help to Id US truck
Hi Sturm:
Your vehicle is a Dodge 1/2 ton 4X4 Command/Recon vehicle. Dodge T202-VC1.
I am posting a photo of a VC-2 which is the radio car version of the same vehicle so you can get a better view of it.

Hi Sturm:
Yes, you are correct. You do not see many of the tractor versions in photos so that is a nice photo to have.

Re: I need help to Id US truck
GMC model 4929 of 1938. 3 ton 6X6. Mainly used as an artillery towing vehicle.
Interesting photo showing that at that rather late date, our artillery forces still used horses.
Not the case after our part of the war started it's offensive phase after mid 1942.

Those old crawler tractors used for the 155mm guns is why the WW2 tracked prime movers were labelled as "high speed" tractors. Compared to using a Caterpillar or Holt, the M4 and M5 were realtively hogh speed.

The first, second, and fourth photos appear to be of the standard 1 1/2 ton all wheel drive truck manufactured by General Motors.
The third photo shows a 3/4 ton weapons carrier. It was powered by a Dodge 6-cylinder, in-line engine.
