Re: Help to Id. US artillery
One more image from Ebay for Id.:
I think 8in (203mm) Gun Mk VI on Carriage Barbette Mk M1 but I am not sure. According to Ian V. Hogg this gun was standarized in 1943 but the image was taken in Nov 1941 according to photocaption.
Any idea for my last images of 01June 2009? U.S. coastal guns are not my specialty.
Thanks in advance. Sturm78

Re: Help to Id. US artillery
The last picture is the USN 8 inch Mk VI on M1 Barbette. The first one was installed at Battery Strong, Fort Rosecrans in 1937
The disappearing gun is a 12 inch probably either M1895 or M1900 gun and the carriage either a M1897 or M1901. The carriage has been modified after it was installed with a raised rear pivot point to increase range which probably means the photos are from the 1920’s or 1930’s

Re: Help to Id. US artillery
Clothing styles suggest the 1920s.
Re: Help to Id. US artillery
Thank you very much for your help, Hoist40.
It is very difficult for me to distinguish the different models of US coastal cannons in disappearing mounts.
Now I think that my my first image posted on 01 Jun 2010 it is a 305mm 12in M1895M1 on M1917 barbette carriage, not a disappearing gun.
Here another image from Fort Kamehameha. According to the information I have obtained on Internet, the only two batteries armed with 12inch guns were Battery Closson (with 2x 12in M1895M1 on M1917 barbette carriage) and Battery Selfridge (???). I suppose that my image shows Battery Selfridge. What gun model?

Re: Help to Id. US artillery
Its either the Northhampton class CA 26 - 31 or the Portland Class CA 33 or 35. The guns are 8"/55 (20.3 cm) Marks, 9 or 11 or 13 or 14. They all were used and it depends on construction and date of last replacement

Re: Help to Id. US artillery
Hi all,
A question about US heavy coastal artillery, again.
I found these images on Ebay. According to photocaption the images were taken in Corregidor.
Can somebody identify the gun model and the battery?
I think 305mm (12in) guns of Battery Cheney. Other possibilities are 305mm (12in) guns of Batteries Crockett or Wheeler.
Anybody??
Thanks in advance. Sturm78
PD: I think that the guns of my last two images posted on 06 Jul 2010 are 356mm (14in) M1907 or M1910 guns, not 305mm (12in) guns.
